Disabled Veteran Gets Wheelchair From VSO
For too long, Ron Hunter moved around in a substandard wheelchair. The disabled Army veteran had struggled to make a living, so getting a new wheelchair was out of the question.
But a few months ago, Hunter, who lives in Port St. Lucie, Fla., got a new wheelchair, courtesy of Veterans Support Organization (VSO). In addition, VSO gave him a job collecting donations for other veterans.
“We work like a family at VSO and we help each other,” said Rich VanHouten, CEO and founder of VSO. “We all showed up and surprised Ron with our own donation by giving him a wheelchair.”
Hunter’s new wheelchair is a Quickie Wheelchair, which is lightweight and easy to take apart.
“He loves it,” added VanHouten. “VSO helps veterans any way we can, and that includes donating a wheelchair to a needy veteran. We are proud to make a difference in the lives of our veterans.”
